About Brekiz

The story of Brekiz: from passion project to community platform

Brekiz was born from a simple observation: there was no serious, complete, and free platform for daily French word games. When Wordle swept the world in 2021–2022, followed by Sutom, Tusmo, Cemantix, and Pedantix in France, a question emerged: why was there no platform that brought all these games together, connected them into a community, and offered genuine long-term progression? Brekiz is the answer to that question.

Built independently without external funding or investors, Brekiz was constructed from the ground up with an obsession for user experience and game quality. Every game was designed, tested, and calibrated to offer the right level of challenge: difficult enough to be stimulating, accessible enough not to discourage beginners. The platform launched progressively, adding games and community features over the months.

Our mission: making daily word games accessible to everyone

The Brekiz mission fits in one sentence: to offer the best free daily word game experience in French and multiple languages, with a genuine community dimension. Here are the principles behind every development decision:

• Uncompromising free access: the 10 daily games will always be free. The Premium subscription is optional and enhances the experience without creating competitive inequality.
• Lexical quality: the words in our challenges are carefully selected. Neither too common nor too obscure. Every word is a memorable intellectual mini-challenge.
• Community first: leaderboards, leagues, private groups, and public profiles exist to create connections between players, not to isolate them behind scores.
• Privacy respect: Brekiz collects only the data necessary for platform operation. No data is sold to third parties.
• Universal accessibility: Brekiz is designed to work on all devices and for all types of users, from seniors to teenagers.

• Doctrine ORM: database management through PHP objects, making schema evolution safe and efficient.
• MySQL: reliable, performant storage for daily challenges, scores, badges, and user profiles.
• Bootstrap 5 + custom CSS: responsive interface that works perfectly on all screen sizes, from smartphones to large monitors.
• Progressive Web App (PWA): Brekiz can be installed on your smartphone like a native app, with partial offline access and optional push notifications.
• word2vec (Python/C): the algorithmic core of Cémentix — a semantic similarity model trained on millions of French texts.

Brekiz is an independent project developed by a team passionate about word games, technology, and design. We are not a large company with hundreds of employees — we are a small, tight-knit team that prefers quality over quantity and passion over quick profit. Every Brekiz feature is developed with player experience as the primary consideration.

The Brekiz roadmap: what is coming soon

Brekiz is constantly evolving. Here are some features and improvements in development for the coming months:

• New game in development: a 7th daily word game is currently being designed. We cannot say more for now, but Premium beta testers will be the first to access it.
• Group tournaments: create tournaments between private groups with special leaderboards and exclusive rewards.
• Advanced statistics for everyone: a lighter version of advanced statistics will become available to free users; the full version will remain Premium-exclusive.
• Customizable visual themes: additional interface themes (dark, high contrast, retro...) to adapt Brekiz to your visual preferences.
• Enhanced push notifications: customizable daily reminders to never miss your streak.

Yes. Each challenge can be reported via the feedback button available on game pages. Our team reviews every report and corrects errors when confirmed.

Is Brekiz monetized through advertising?
Yes, for free account users, Brekiz displays non-intrusive ads to fund platform development and hosting. Premium members have no advertising.
